Mission Statement

At Bacup Nursery School, we aim to welcome all children into a happy and caring environment where their full potential is reached through well planned, meaningful and stimulating play. We hope to encourage and instil a curiosity and enthusiasm for learning which will continue throughout their school life and beyond.

Aims of Bacup Nursery School

The philosophy & ethos of Bacup Nursery School is based upon key principles of early years education. All children are entitled to a broad & balanced

Curriculum which recognises the principles of the Early Years Foundation Stage. We plan to achieve this through the following aims:

· To create a safe, secure and welcoming environment which values each child as an individual and enables each child to develop a love of learning, as a foundation for future learning.

· Make the first experiences of school as happy as possible, promoting strong links with parents and carers and building up trusting partnerships.

· To follow the four themes, A Unique Child, Positive Relationships, Enabling Environments and Learning and Development to ensure effective practice of the Early Years Foundation Stage.

· To provide a broad and balanced curriculum that challenges and extends children’s learning and development, according to their individual needs and reflects the diverse and multi-cultural nature of society.

· To use a wide range of teaching strategies which builds upon children’s curiosity, encourages exploration and investigation, making choices,

taking risks and participating in a range of both self-initiated and adult led activities.

· To provide equality of opportunity and accessibility for all children to develop self confidence, self esteem, independence and a respect for others.

· To provide opportunities for parents and carers to be given information about their child within school and a sharing of Learning Journal and  reports of their child.
